Something new for 2010

Given that I haven't blogged for quite some time and a new year is upon us, I thought that now would be a good time to clean house and make plans for the blog for 2010. I have a few ideas in my head, but I am not sure if I am up to the task. While I will still be posting random stuff that interests me, I am thinking of posting devotional thoughts as well as blogging my way through a few books. The books I am thinking about doing may be a little too much for me, but I think they may be the most beneficial in the long run. I'm going to think about this some more and hopefully have something up soon.

Maybe one day I will finish the Caravaggio series...

6 Reasons Pastor's Should Blog

Here is a link to a recent post by Abraham Piper on DesiringGod.

6 Reasons Pastors Should Blog

As we can see, this is clearly biblical...
The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to blog, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own blog well, with all dignity keeping his readers submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own blog, how will he care for God's church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that his blog may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. 1 Timothy 3:1-5 (English Blogging Version)

In the beginning...

Greetings all,

It is a pleasure to finally join the blogosphere. My intentions for this blog are three-fold.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Verse by Verse Scripture Study for the benefit of others, as well as myself.

2. Develop a community to discuss theology, church practices, history, etc.

3. Reach people with the good news of Jesus Christ and encourage fellow believers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope that through the grace of Christ, all this would be accomplished as well as much, much more. Grace be to you all, and may God bless your lives.
